One Time Thing
03:06
|
|
||
It's never just a one time thing
It gets hidden in everything
It'll follow you all the way to death
And maybe even after that
So keep your hands safe and clean
And it wouldn't be such a bad thing
If Sundays were for Church and everyone
Could just work some other day
So don't get caught
Trying to impress all the rest
There's no point
For you to waste your breath
Look towards the open road
Decisions you make decide where you go
The outcomes of your actions reflect the thought
You put in them before they happened
So don't get caught
Trying to impress all the rest
There's no point
For you to waste your breath
There's no point
For you to waste your breath
There's no point
For you to waste your breath
They start off as such small threats
Soon develop and quicken their attack
The outcomes of your actions reflect the thought
You put in them before they happened

No Place For Rest
04:39
|
|
||
The moon just looked like another stoplight swayin' in the wind.
And your dark brown hair hides your face like your feelings hide within.
Because you know what I've been thinking and it's that same old thought again. Sometimes you must forget in order to love again, in order to trust again. Oh darling just hold my hand.
Trust that is built on sturdy ground never succumbs to doubt. But your trust I have built it on shifty sand because I just can't figure it out. 'Cause I don't know what you are thinking, so if you could just spell it out, and I will learn I'll change, just open your mouth. Just let the words run out. There's no need to shout.
The fox has its holes and the sparrow its nest but the Son of Man has no place to rest in this world, no place to lay his head (Matthew 8:20). And the ignorant in mind choose the shadow that's bent 'cause the Son of Man is no sacrament in their heads. No price to pay with death. No reason to relent. No sacrifice for them.
And I want to let him rest
Yes I want to pay my debt
(Sung in the background)
They say it's easy
They say it's hard
They say it's easy
They say it's easy
They say it's different
They say his love
They say it's everything
They say he loves us
They think he does
They say he loves us
They think he doesn't
They say he loves us
We know he does
They say he loves us
We know he does

Nightmare As A Dream
05:09
|
|
||
I'm not so sick that I will just let it be my fault it'll never be
I'll never let it be my fault
And I'm not so scared that this nightmare disguised as a dream
Will turn to my reality
I'll never let it become my reality
Is this the problem that's been crippling us?
The same problem that I saw in a dream once?
The problem that will come back to haunt us?
Unless we leave behind the dust that so easily chokes us up.
So easily chokes us up.
When you and I were kids did you ever see a thing so beautiful
As where we are now and where we're gonna be?
I have to admit that I never saw a thing until you shed
His light on my reality
Oh God now I can see

When Nine and Ten Meet
05:06
|
|
||
When nine and ten meet
It brings me peace like a calm breeze
On a Blue Ridge mountain peak
The beauty that's so steadfast in your ways
Brings me joy like your smile
On a cool spring day
When the tears start rushing down your face
It's like the shrill of freezing water
Just rushing through my veins
But you let me know that it's all gonna be okay
Sometimes joy and sadness
Are expressed in the same ways
I am but a child of the flatlands
With a love for the mountains
The blue-ridged span
And like any form of art, they didn't form by chance
Behind every work worth admiration
There's an impressive set of hands
Tired with the way this always turns out
Every long journey ends
With ever increasing doubt
But the assurance is in your smile, it's in your voice
Oh God you never bring us sadness
Without any Joy
But we put ourselves behind closed doors
That we've created for ourselves
With the empty thoughts of the world
All the while we're searching for something more
What we never realize
Is what we want is behind the door
Want's not just a word it's a curse so stay away
Be content with what you have. Be thankful for everyday
We'll never know how much this life of ours can change
Be content with what you have. Be thankful for everyday

The Words That I Spoke
04:06
|
|
||
I'm tired with the way I always speak
Because most often times it's not what I mean
But if I just put more thought into my words
I'd save myself some trouble and you some hurt
I'm tired of ripping your heart from your chest
Like it's some game that I can simply reset
Distance will never do us part
As long as our love grows strong, and we keep Him in our hearts
I'm tired of hurtin' you with my words
It's time that I change for better and not for worse
And if by chance I forget your feelings let me know
And I will try to change the words that I spoke
This is goodbye to the words that I spoke
And I will try to change the words that I spoke
This is goodbye to the words that I spoke

Learn To Stay Awake
04:41
|
|
||
Stop the speeding hollow
Thoughts behind the world's soot
There's no need to bellow
Over money if you could
Just do what you love
And not care what anyone else does
Days pass and memories to sort
Some good, most bad
Don't let it resort to this
Getting old and looking back
At what you could've had
And what you wish you would've done
Fifteen years of nothing you love
For a lifetime of I wish I would've
Stop the connotations of age
Getting old is not all bad
Wrinkles upon your face
Show the smiles that you had
When you were young
'Cause you don't care what anyone else has done
I can't wait for that day
When my youthful joy shows upon my aged face
Don't let another year go to waste
Livin' miserable lives thinking that it's money you should chase
Don't let another year part ways
Unless you learn that you can dream while still awake
Learn to stay awake
(Hallelujah)
